  50. I wish I had seen this earlier.  I just threw away a Cell Phone 
  51. amplifier.  It as a 1 Watt in 50 Watt our amplifier.  It needed 4 amps at 
  52. 24 vdc.  I think the thing was built by AT&T.  How you would get a mobile 
  53. cell phone connected it this thing I would not begin to guess.  I came of 
  54. a local Cell site that was being upgraded a couple of years ago.

  188. A friend of mine just purchased a Yaesu FT840 which she is putting in her 
  189. boat for a cruise to the Carribean.  Upon inspection of the radio, I see 
  190. that it doesn't have any conformal coating on the circuit boards.  Since 
  191. this radio will spend its life on a boat in the Tropics, I suspect that 
  192. conformal coating would be useful.  My questions are:
  193.  
  194. 1.  What risks do I run by coating the circuit boards with a conformal 
  195. coating (aside from voiding the warranty.)
  196.  
  197. 2.  What type of conformal coating is recommended, ie acrylic, urethane, 
  198. etc.?
  199.  
  200. 3.  Will this actually extend the life of the unit, or will something 
  201. that I can't coat actually fail first anyway?

  216. 9.465 MHz that renders it useless around the 31 meter band.

  268.      I have a TH 22 and it is one heck of a good HT.  Audio is excellent
  269. and it outputs 3 watts with standard battery, 5 with larger one, and is
  270. minute in size .  Only lacks illuminated keypad, I guess Kenwood figured
  271. we could program it in the light.  I see the the Kenwood HMC-2 is the
  272. Headset with VOX-PTT although I don't have a price for it.  As far s
  273. buying one buy or get a QST or CQ Mag and you will find dozens of mail
  274. order firms.  HRO  or Tucher have been good for me.  And the prices are
  275. very reasonable.

  350. I am still looking for a manual for a VHF amp called Sheatron.  It's 
  351. range is from 134-174 mhz and it has 100 watts output for 10 watts 
  352. input. I do not know anything else about the company.

  354. The second item is an Olympia Electronic Compact RO. It is a printer 
  355. with no keyboard. The company does not have anymore manuals on 
  356. it because it is a 1980's model. So they say.

  432. I am interested in opinions as to the pros and cons of the Yaesu FT840 vs 
  433. the ICOM IC 728.  There doesn't seem to be much difference other than the 
  434. receiver on the 728 is triple conversion vs double on the 840, and the 
  435. 728 comes with built in FM coverage.  The price difference is >$200.

  437. What do you get for the price difference?  I've seen the inside of the 
  438. 840 and it appears to be well made, but it is lacking any conformal coating.
